Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Sandwich Cookies

Kingston biscuits. They are an Australian biscuit, an oaty, buttery sandwich cookie with a delicious, creamy milk chocolate filling in the middle. They are yummy, but I try really hard not to buy packet biscuits, what with all the additives and preservatives, when I can easily bake up some cookies myself. So when I saw a recipe for a homemade version of Kingstons, I jumped all over it. And they … Continue reading →

Mocha Icebox Cake

I can still remember the first time I tried an icebox cake, or what in Australia is more commonly called a chocolate ripple cake. Chocolate Ripple is the brand name of a deep, dark, rich, rippled chocolate biscuit, and the back of the packet has forever had a recipe for icebox cake on it. Peanut Butter Ritz Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies

On the particular day when I baked these cookies, I had salty/sweet on the brain. It was a Tuesday morning, and Tuesday mornings at culinary school are a bit of a lazy bore. Four straight hours of theory class. Yes. Four. Hours. Straight. And in Berlin, I was lucky enough to meet up with Erin from Texanerin Baking! … Continue reading →

I just arrived back home not long ago and thought I’d share the last of my European Instagram photo posts with you before getting back into the normal swing of things. When I made these little babies, I was in Poland, hanging out with … Continue reading →

Caramel Slice

Caramel slice is pretty much a staple in most Australian cafes. It appears to be somewhat similar to millionaire’s shortbread. I have never made millionaire’s shortbread, but from the pictures I’ve seen on other blogs, it looks pretty similar. Caramel slice (slice is the word Australians use for all types of bars) is delicious. It involves a biscuit base made from coconut, sugar, flour and melted butter. There’s a thick, … Continue reading →
