Blueberry Crumble Pie Bars

Spring is here! It’s going to be warm soon! Here’s how I can tell: 1. Mosquitoes are back. And biting. Love them. 2. I no longer have to layer up like an onion with jumpers and knits and coats and two or three pairs of socks and scarves and beanies just so that I can go outside. Maybe I can even pack up my winter coats for the year? That’s … Continue reading →

Apple and Almond Crumble Pie Bars

Today is going to be a little bit different, because the story behind why I made these bars is a sad one. My dear friend’s mum, Sophie, passed away last week. She was an amazing woman, full of life, love, energy, positivity and strength. She left this world before her time, and will be greatly missed by many. I made this pie in Sophie’s memory, and gave it to my … Continue reading →

Pretzel, Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Truffle Brownies

Chocolate and peanut butter is one of the ultimate flavour combinations. Whoever invented Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups is amazing and will have my love forever. But I was never really into peanut butter (crazy, I know) until I went to visit some relatives in the States a few years ago. It was fall and the trees were amazing shades of red and orange and Halloween was around the corner My … Continue reading →

Walnut Chocolate Chip Bean Brownie Cake

So I fell so absolutely, head over heels in love with these healthy cookie dough balls, that I have since baked them three times, and would happily eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hey, the main ingredients are like, chickpeas and peanuts, so they are like, a healthy protein snack, right? Never mind all the chocolate that’s in there, it gets cancelled out by all the chickpeas. Anyway, so … Continue reading →

Blueberry Custard Pie Bars

Can I tell you a secret? When I first made these bars, I ate a large amount of the unbaked graham cracker crust mixture with a spoon. So the second time I made these bars (because my family and friends ate them so fast the first time I didn’t have time to take any photos), I made extra graham cracker crust mixture just so I could eat it with a … Continue reading →

Brown Butter Lemon Bars

All you Americans out there, especially all those who live in San Francisco, have you been to Tartine? I have been to SF. And the most heartbreaking thing for me is that (as it was pre my “all I want to do is bake” days) I didn’t go to Tartine. I went to some fantastic places like Nopa and Dottie Blue’s, but I was yet to hear about Tartine at … Continue reading →

Caramel Slice

Caramel slice is pretty much a staple in most Australian cafes. It appears to be somewhat similar to millionaire’s shortbread. I have never made millionaire’s shortbread, but from the pictures I’ve seen on other blogs, it looks pretty similar. Caramel slice (slice is the word Australians use for all types of bars) is delicious. It involves a biscuit base made from coconut, sugar, flour and melted butter. There’s a thick, … Continue reading →

Polish Vanilla Slice (Karpatka)

This is Karpatka. Karpatka is like a polish version of vanilla slice, or millefeuille, only instead of the puff pastry, you have layers of choux pastry. Imagine one, big, rectangular profiterole filled with pastry cream. Yum! This is an absolute favourite of my mums, the polish dessert she likes the most. And I made it aaages ago for her, for mothers day, but I kind of forgot to post it. … Continue reading →

Nutella Chip Biscoff Blondies with Nutella Ganache Frosting

So. For a long time I was on the hunt for some sort, any sort, of Biscoff. I had heard so much about the cookies, about the spread, and about people flying with Delta Airlines just to eat some of this goodness. I knew there was Speculoos and Biscoff and Cookie Butter, and I just wanted any version of anything I could get my hands on. Getting my hands on … Continue reading →

Salted Caramel Blondies

I love me some blondies. I haven’t made any in a while, and I thought a batch of chewy blondies were long overdue. And they were made even better with a layer of salted caramel through the middle! Things have been pretty crazy around here, and I honestly don’t even know where the days go. What between four shifts per week at work, two and a half days at culinary … Continue reading →
