Chocolate espresso nut tart | Butter Baking

Chocolate Espresso Nut Tart

So this tart is just ridiculous. I haven’t made something twice in a row in a really long time. Blogging just doesn’t allow for it – I am constantly wanting to try new things, so that I can test out different recipes, and so I always have something fresh to share with you. But this one was just THAT good, that I had to bake it twice. The photos you see … Continue reading →

Mocha choc chip coconut hot cross buns | Butter Baking

Double Chocolate Chip, Espresso, Coconut Hot Cross Buns

So I have a confession to make. I wasn’t going to share a hot cross bun recipe with you this year. I made you some Chocolate Chip Hot Cross Buns (my faves!) last Easter. This year, I was going to make you something a little different (and I’m working on it, so if all goes to plan, you’ll be getting those tomorrow). Anyway, so I wasn’t going to share another … Continue reading →

Marshmallow stuffed chocolate truffle chunk cookies | Butter Baking

Chocolate Espresso Mousse

So I’m freaking out a little. It’s coming to that time in my life when I am at a massive crossroads. A huge intersection. A junction. And. I. Am. Freaking. Out. In November, I will finish studying. I will officially be finished my Bachelor of Arts degree. And I will officially be finished my Patisserie course. I will no longer be a student. I will no longer be able to … Continue reading →

Mocha Icebox Cake

I can still remember the first time I tried an icebox cake, or what in Australia is more commonly called a chocolate ripple cake. Chocolate Ripple is the brand name of a deep, dark, rich, rippled chocolate biscuit, and the back of the packet has forever had a recipe for icebox cake on it. I’m not sure anyone actually buys the biscuits unless they are making some version of the … Continue reading →

Brownie Espresso Icebox Layer Cake with Nutella Frosting

I started this little blog a year ago tomorrow! Whoo! I honestly cannot believe it. I have to post this a day early, because during my blog’s actual birthday tomorrow, I will be flying somewhere over Europe. June 17th, 2011 this blog was born, with my first post about a Devil’s Food Cake I baked for my brother’s birthday. That is a post I will certainly not be linking you … Continue reading →

Chocolate Caramel Bars

I made these recently to take to a friend’s barbeque. They were such a hit! My friend’s sister’s boyfriend (that’s a mouthful) cooked a really great barbeque, with prawns (shrimp), Peri Peri chicken, wings, lamb skewers and spicy sausages. We sat around in my friend’s awesome outdoor patio, drinking beers, talking, and eating yummy meat and salads as it begun to thunder and hail and storm. Lucky we were covered. … Continue reading →

Mocha Nutella Thumbprint Cookies

I don’t really drink coffee. It’s not that I don’t like the taste of it, it’s just that espresso coffee in lattes and cappuccinos, which is really the only type of coffee you can buy in cafes Australia, makes me feel sick. I don’t know why. I can happily drink instant coffee (judge all you like). And I love the filtered coffee that they drink in the States. I would … Continue reading →

Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies

My heart skips a beat when I see, or hear, the word cookie. I’m not joking. Put two little words, two simple little words, in front of that, and I actually have heart palpitations and begin to salivate. Chocolate chip cookie. Add chewy and thick in there somewhere and you’ve got me. I’m yours. Claim to have a chocolate chip cookie recipe that rivals that of almost everyone’s favourite, the … Continue reading →

Pecan Brownies

So I have been on a bit of a brownie kick lately, but it has been the easy type of Nutella brownie. Which with their three ingredients, they are so easy it feels like they’re almost cheating. It feels like its hardly baking. It feels like they can’t be the real thing. Even though they are blow-your-mind-amazing. So I made some proper brownies. Some big girl brownies. Some from scratch, … Continue reading →
