I’m obsessed with it, so when I saw this recipe I jumped all over it.
I thought it would be good to have in the Basics section, and then I made some Biscoff blondies using these Nutella chips that are coming soon!

But you can use these chips in anything! Cookies, brownies, stirred into cakes, in pies, mixed into vanilla ice cream, on top of frosted bars, straight out of a bowl – the possibilities are endless.
I have used so many exclamation marks in this post! It must be because I’m so excited about all the Nutella chip possibilities.
Enjoy!

HOMEMADE NUTELLA CHIPS
Inspired by Ivory Hut.
1 cup Nutella (140g, 5 oz)
50g unsalted butter, melted (1/4 cup)
Melt the butter in the microwave in a heatproof bowl.
Stir in the Nutella until well combined.
Spoon into a piping bag or zip loc bag and snip off a little corner.
Pipe small “chips” onto a tray lined with baking paper.
Freeze for 2 hours. Makes 1 cup of Nutella chips.

This is amazing! I had no idea it was possible to make your own chocolate chips (or nutella chips, rather) and I would never have guessed by looking at these pictures that they were homemade – they look perfect!
Thanks Natalie! They are super delicious too
a little softer than you’re average chocolate chips but still amazing!
wow! how brilliant. I must try em and show off asap.
Good quality chocolate chips are quite expensive and the cheap ones don’t taste good, in fact they are tasteless. However, nutella chips would be lovely, who could ever resist them. I would love to make a chocolate chip cake with these little babies.
Thanks for a brilliant idea.
Hey Leemz, you’re welcome! The chocolate chip cake with these sounds like a great idea! You could probably make your own chocolate chips too, just by melting down and piping chocolate. The difference would be that chocolate chips have something in them to stop them from melting! Let me know how the cake goes
This is such a great idea! I can’t wait to give it a go! Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much
Wow, so impressed that you did this!! I would love some of these on vanilla ice cream right now
Oh yum!! It would be like Nutella ice cream, delicious!
What an awesome idea, I’m OBSESSED with nutella! I can’t wait to make these and try them in all sorts of different recipes!
Thanks! Hope you love them Lauren

Those are cute
How do you store them? Butter and Nutella are both quite soft at room temperature, do you need to keep them cold until they’re used?
Hey Andrea! I made mine and used them straight away, they were fine once they were in a baked product. Otherwise yes, I would keep them cold – the fridge would be perfect.

GENIUS!
Thanks!!
Wow. This. Is. Fab.
Thanks Kyra!
I’ve wanted to make a million things with pb chips, but are obviously unavailable in Australia, do you the same principal would work with peanut butter? I’ve seen one recipe that adds icing sugar so I’m not really sure which to use
You can order peanut butter chips from USA foods in Australia Mariam, or if you live in Melbourne you can visit the store yourself.
Otherwise, a peanut butter/icing sugar combination makes a soft reeces peanut butter cup style filling, rather than a hard chip.
I have recently made something that calls for peanut butter and chocolate to be combined in replacement of chocolate chips though, so stay tuned for the recipe
